NXP Semiconductors recently announced the MIFARE DUOX

NXP Semiconductors recently announced MIFARE DUOX, the first of its kind to combine asymmetric and symmetric cryptographic algorithms in a single contactless NFC chip product. By reducing the complexity of key management and key distribution, it helps simplify the deployment of secure NFC applications such as electric vehicle (EV) charging authentication, secure car access control and other access management applications. The convergence of enhanced security, asymmetric authentication and advanced functionality creates a high-performance, highly secure and cost-effective NFC system solution.
Smart cities are increasingly relying on NFC-enabled applications that offer convenient tap-to-access functionality. the MIFARE DUOX is suitable for a wide range of applications including electric vehicle charging, secure car access control, and corporate access management solutions. the MIFARE DUOX combines asymmetric and symmetric encryption, utilizing the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concept to dramatically simplify key management. concept, significantly simplifying the process of key management and distribution.
